Why are you still planning on using straw? It's already been mentioned in this thread at least three times that it is not absorbent. It serves no purpose as bedding. Just use the soft sorbant. |

The cage measurements I got wrong. I will measure now. I'll just take a picture of it, instead. Here is the order of the bedding: First Floor At The Very Bottom: NewsPaper (Nontreated) 2nd Bottom: Straw Top: Soft Sorbant 2nd Floor At The Very Bottom: NewsPaper (Nontreated) Top: Fabric/Fleece Length: 113cm Width: 51cm Height: 51cm Those are the real measurments. Roxy is now sits in her litterbox, and poos in it. But she still does poo outside it. And the reson why I still use straw is because I have no other things to use. I have only ever seen Soft Sorbant, Other Stuff Like Soft Sorbant, Sawdust, Hay and Straw and the shops. |

CuteRoxy is from Australia so finding timothy hay is going to be difficult. I would recommend something like oaten hay or meadow hay. Buying hay by the bale is often cheaper and you can often get better quality hay but if you can not store a bale of hay I would suggest you buddy up with a few other piggy lovers and work it out that way. I would also recommend you join the forum on the Australian Cavy Sanctuary website. That way people that live in your area will be able to help you out with finding supplies. I would ditch the straw. Some people prefer newspaper underneath as they can just roll up all of the bedding when it needs cleaning - others find that it makes the cage smell more. Either way there is no need for the straw if you have soft sorbant on top. Again, joining the ACS forum will mean that people living in your area will be able to give you bedding recommendations. I live in WA and use fleece and towels for bedding, with a kitchen area in each cage filled with 100% recycled kitty litter. With your fleece on the top level - I would recommend having something absorbant underneath. The newspaper is not absorbant at all. I use 4-6 layers of towel underneath my fleece and can get a week out of it before it needs changing. |

I can't use fleece all around her cage just yet, she hasn't learnt how to fully use the litterbox but she is mainly pooing in the litterbox which is a good sign. Sorry about the measuments, I feel pretty stupid because I measured with a small ruler. I will measure the cage propally later. We do already have a hay in Roxy's cage. Strangly, my guinea pig dislikes peeing and pooping on fleece or carpet, so I might be able to try the cage with all fleece later. Hopefully if my mum lets me. We put layers and layers of newspaper and it obsorbs quite well. Thanks for helping! (The Litterbox problem is solved! Yay!) |

You can just use the Soft Sorbant in the litter box--no straw or newspaper. They serve no purpose as they don't absorb well. For the fleece, you need something absorbent like towels or mattress pads. Newspaper will smell very quickly, and it will get wet and heavy. Fleece needs an absorbent layer underneath it in order to work properly. Your pig most likely will never be fully litter trained, so I would just switch to all fleece now. If you do the layering properly, it doesn't matter if she is litter trained or not. |

Ok, this is the real size: 1m 20cm X 60cm And it has a second floor. That is the real measurments! Just measure it with a tape measure and you'll see it is a good size for one piggie. She is 7months old girl, and I know that doesn't matter but anyways! |
