I was wondering if it would be nessisary to get a night light for my piggies. They get plenty of light through the window durring the day but when the sun goes down, they are in the dark. |

I know Guinea Pigs have great vision in the dark since they were wild. But I keep a night light in my room just in case I go in there. Although, I'm pretty used to night lights(It was a habit since I got Sandy) so when I go over to a friend's house for the night or something, I turn it on and make sure my parent's know to leave it on. |

I'm considering putting up the Christmas style lights on the bottom floor of my cage since both floors are the same size. They have a name for them somewhere around this forum. Rope lights I believe. |

It's best not to assume things. Actually, guinea pigs do not have very good vision even in the light. They rely more on their sense of smell, and therefore you don't need a night light. |

I have a nightlight in the girls' room because the first night I had them they ran around wild and made scared noises when I shut the light off and it was completely dark, so they are used to it now. I am not sure it is absolutely necessary, but it can't hurt |

My pigs too like dimmer light. Some of them like to lay in the sunshine when it shines in the window. I find that Snowy, my Himalayan, has very light-sensitive eyes. This is common since their eyes are red and have little to no pigment (I think). She gets very squinty in the daylight and likes evening better. Lamplight doesn't seem to bother her but sunlight does. Your piggies will probably be okay without a nightlight! |
