Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hey! I recently built a 2x4 grid cage for my three new piggies. I felt terrible for them in their old cage acquired from the previous owner. I'm trying to to the very best I can for them but when I built their cage and put them in I just didn't feel satisfied with how big or how small it was. I'm just wondering, is my feeling right, is this enough space? Thanks for answering my questions |

You can really never give them too much space, the more space the better! To be honest though, a 2 by 4 for 3 pigs is too small, it needs to be at least a 2 by 5 (in grids of course). PERSONALLY I like to have a 2 by 2 section per pig. I have 5 pigs, so I have a 2 by 10 that they all share, and they LOVE it! Oh, and bless you for adopting them and giving them a proper environment! |

Yeah, I would definitely make the cage bigger. I recently introduced two of my pigs and they were in a 2X4 which technicaly is okay for 2 but with 2 of everything (hideys, tunnels, food bowls, water bottles, hay boxes, etc) it got pretty crowded in there pretty fast so I moved them both to the 2X5 and it's much better. This is for the TWO I have so if you have THREE, I would do a minimum of 2X5 but 2X6 would probably be better. |

Unless your cage needs its own zipcode, bigger is always going to be better. When I had 4 sharing a cage, they were in a 3x5 (plus an upper deck). Due to some fighting, I split them recently into pairs. Now 2 share a 2x5, and 2 share a 2x4 which I intend to extend as soon as I have a couple more grids to do that with. |
