Question Grids v's free range.

My girls were free range for about a month . The area they were in was about the size of a 6x6 / 6x7 cage. The grids arrived a week ago and i made a 2x4 cage in order to give my kids space to put there toys back into the room. But,the piggies just aren't happy.
Princess would sometimes zoom around but not as often as she used to. Poppy is just totally depressed and just walks around as if she's in jail.
The only time she looks happy is when munching on veggies.

They have about 2 hours a day floor time. Don't know what to do to make this better. I have 4 grids left so i can expand the cage to 3x5 and hope they will be happier or put them back to free range and have my children upset as i'd be taking the play room from them again. Any suggestions ?

Re: Grids v's free range.

Is it possible to split the playroom in half?
Bigger is always better so if you have the space and supplies, expand.

Not really no. I measured the space thats left and its 1.3meters x 2 and bit. The built in wardrope takes up a lot of space.

Re: Grids v's free range.

You could try expanding and see how that works out. but you cant divide the room in half because if you expanded to a 3 x 5 the cage would be bigger than the room.

Re: Grids v's free range.

I can expand to a 3x5 . The space left would be 1.3mx2m It's an odd shaped room.
Guess i'm gonna try and expand and see how it works out.

Re: Grids v's free range.

I expanded from a 2x3 to a 3x4 . The pigs love it. They zoomed all around and popcorned non stop.I actually sat inside the cage to play. Thank god the kids were at school.(moms gone nuts) I added a fluffy mirror and princess i think is mesmerized by her reflection.

Re: Grids v's free range.

Im glad that your piggies seem to be happier with the added space! Seems like you found a good compromise between the littler cage and the free range.
