Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0
I have tendonitis and have very little hand strength, plus I have very small hands. I could not cut the zip ties with scissors, the whole cage is zip ties, just did not find the connectors to be very stable. So had about 300 zip ties to cut. I was so frustrated at not being about to do this, when my husband suggested I use my hoof trimmers I use on my pet sheep. They were amazing! They have a rotating handle so I was able to cut all the ties in so little time. And my hand did not even hurt! I know not everyone has these and they are expensive but if you have small hands and/or weak hands and change the cage alot (as most of us do) I would recommend getting these. They are called Felco 50 hoof shears with rotating handle. |

Nice tip! They're not too expensive. I mean, I just did a quick search and found some for $17 bucks! Pretty cheap investment if you have weak hands. |

Great suggestion. I've also used wire cutters. |

This is kinda off topic, are wire cutters the ones people use to cut grids? |

Wire cutters could cut the inner wires of the grids, but you'd need heavy duty bolt cutters for the outsides. What I'm taking about is more like this. |

For cutting grids, I find a dremel tool with a metal cutting bit does the trick pretty well, but make sure it's the kind of dremel you plug in, as mine is the battery kind and I had to recharge half a dozen times to finish my cage. |

I just use kitchen shears to cut the zipties. |
