Question about lid

I think I have to have a lid, and will get a piece of shelving cut at H.D.

The main cage pages gives the dimensions for a 2X5 as:
10.5 sq ft 13 sq feet30" x 62"2x5 grids

How can it be 62" long if the grids are 14" grids (14 x 5 = 70")

Re: Question about lid

What I would do is measure your cage from end to end then add at least an inch to each side for the lid.

Re: Question about lid

I currently have a 2 grid X 5 grid cage and a 6 ft. piece of closet shelving is the perfect length. I used a piece of 12 inch and a piece of 16 inch wide shelving, which leaves about an inch gap in the middle. I just zip tied the 12 inch wide piece along the back and two sides, to keep it firm, and then made zip tie hinges along the gap, loosely attaching the two pieces so that the 16 inch side opens on the front. Works fine.

Thanks so much ! Found exactly the shelving you have and it works like a charm. My piggies are so happy. We put them up on a table in the living room instead of the floor of my office and they seem much more social. They had lived at table height previously, so maybe they are more comfortable at that level.
