The only other thing to do is remove the table that your computer is on. maybe put the table in the kitchen or living room. Move your dresser into that space and then you will have the room for the cage. |

But the grids make it practically a 3.5x3.5 don't they? I mean I'm pretty sure I know how to convert and multiply.. 1 ft = 12 inches 14= 1 ft 2 inches 14x3= 42 42/12 = 3.5 ft 3.5 x 3.5 = 12.25 sq ft. Did I miss something? That's without adding in the inch and a half between the dividers. I mean I'm pretty sure if you take the perimeter and times it you get the area. Which is what I just did. So if the requirements for 3 pigs is 10.5 minimum then how is that not meeting the requirements? I'm lost. |

It's not a "table" its my computer desk and I kind of need it to do homework and keep my computer on. |

I go by grid size. So we have a 3x3 grid cage, that is 9 square grids for the floor area. The minimum for three sows is a 2x5 which is 10 square grids. It's easier to go by grid size then feet if you are using grids and not making an alternative cage. |

I can't remember but do you have boars or sows? You may have to get really creative with moving the furniture around to accomodate both yourself and the piggers. |

Ah Okay thanks for clearing that up PeggySu. I didn't understand why. And Princesspoppy thanks for the suggestion though. I wish I could take it out or put it somewhere but the apartment is small already and I like being able to sit in my room and listen to music on my computer. I'm sure you understand? I wish it was a tad bit smaller, but I didn't buy it so I can't complain. I think i figured something out..hmmmm... |

Like Ly said you'll have to be creative. It doesn't have to be a square shape it can also be an "L" shape as well. You can make it work. |

Sorry to go off topic, but I don't see how the second level doesn't "count" towards square footage. My cage is 2x4 with a 2x3 upper level, minus the space the ramp takes up, my pigs have 13 grids they can walk on. I think my pigs get more exercise in their cage then they would in a "recommended" 2x5. |

What I meant to raise the cage, I mean it should overlap the bed like a T shape. So your feet can go underneath the cage. If you've seen a T shape bunkbed, you might know what I mean. ETA: I found a picture of the bed I was talking about. Bedroom Furniture - Beds, Bunk & Platform Beds, Kids Bedroom Furniture: University Loft - Graduate Series Extra Long Junior Crew Loft Obviously, the cage won't be as big as the top bunk, but it gives you an idea. You can build a stand from grids. Last edited by lissie; 08-24-09 at 02:00 pm. |

Talked to my roommate she's agreed to let them stay in the living room. We have just the spot for them too where they can be the house pets and everyone who comes in can see them and love on them if they want |

Thanks I'm very happy too. They seem to be kind of in awe. Now I just need to know if my Honey (she just had a c-section and is recovering) can go in the cage too or if I should keep her seperate?? if I have to I'll build her a seperate holding pen so she can get the exercise/exploring time she needs. she's not as active couped up in a tiny box and I understand why |

I would keep Honey separated for a few more days. Most vets recommend keeping them in more confined spaces for the first week or two after that kind of surgery to prevent any injury to the surgical area. I'm glad you have such a good roomie that he/she will let you keep them in a community room such as the living room. Everything worked out in the end. |
