Are there any pet store cages out there that are large enough for two piggies and suitable? Also what about the large zoozone cage for one as a quarantine cage? I have never seen a CC cage but the cage needs to be moved easily and picked up, I am assuming you can not do this with a CC cage? |

There are a few, but they are not ideal (often not sturdy, hard to clean, etc.). I'm not sure what the zoozone cage is, but a smaller cage is okay for quarantine. A C&C cage is actually pretty easy to take apart and move. You'll want to collapse the grids and possibly fold the coroplast. Take a look at how they are built and some gallery photos, and you'll get a better idea. To be honest, I think a large pet store cage will be much more difficult to move. |

If you use zip ties instead of connectors for connecting the grids, you can fold it up easily. Also, since coroplast won't roll up if it's a box shape, you could use a shower curtain instead, because that will roll up very easily. Hope this helps! = D |

I'm just wondering what your circumstances are that require the cage to be picked up and moved easily. It might help to know that. The Zoozone cages are not good for guinea pigs. |

Do you mean to pick it up and move it to another location entirely, or just to move it a little to clean up around/behind it? Mine is together with zip ties and a stand made of cubes as well. It's sturdy and I can move it if I need to. I could pick it up with help from another person or I could slide it into another room if I ever felt the need to do so. |

If you build one on a grid stand, there are grid castors you can buy to make it easily movable. |

If you're going to have a cage that's nearly 2m long and 70 cm wide (give or take) it's not going to be the easiest thing to pick up We have a coroplast box that lifts out, seems like the easiest option |

With enough zip-ties, a C&C can be picked up and moved. Before we had a house, we were moving about every year, so to keep from losing pieces and to keep it from shifting during moves, we went wild with the zip ties. We use the spacers still, and with the proper tension they are quite reluctant to pop off. Because of the grids, I DO end up tying the water-bottle to the side because of the difficult time I have fitting it, but when we changed the room our Bear was in, we simply picked it up as one piece and moved it. Ours includes a second floor and an attached ramp, but it gave us no trouble. As for the zoo zone cage, it has aquarium sides and only vents through the top. |

Why are you moving the whole cage every day? What do you do with the piggies during this? Our C&C is on a table that holds the 2x4 cage and nothing else. Since we switched to fleece, there's no more bedding being kicked out. I brush up the hay, spilled food, and poopies every morning, and change it out every 3-4 days, which takes five minutes to change out, and another two minutes to prep for washing. I have one long hair, one mixed with long and abyssinian, and a little short hair, and the hair comes right off, no problem. What I spent on fleece and towels for two changes, I normally spend on two weeks of bedding. After this, it's just buying fleece (to match the season!) which will cost around $10 and is very reusable. I can't wait for Halloween! And CHRISTMAS! ![]() Those cages are better than the first one you suggested, but to check adequacy, I'll defer to more experienced members of the herd than myself. |

The only commercial cage that is even remotely acceptable is this one: Guinea Habitat but in the pictures I've seen, it doesn't look nearly as sturdy as a C&C and would be more difficult to move around. Some people here own one and if you do a forum search for "Midwest Habitat" you should be able to find some reviews. The cages on the link you gave are way too small. The largest one is only one meter and that is less than half of the recommended size for one pig. They're more expensive than a C&C, too. If you need help finding supplies the members here are more than happy to help. When I adopted my last pig he came with a pet store cage. It was much more flimsy than my C&C that is secured with a ton of zip ties. I was nervous carrying him in that cage. It felt like the bottom was going to pop off at any second. If you get enough grids you can make a smaller cage for when you need to transport your pigs to another location, like for vacations or overnight visits. |

I have a a Midwest habitat with a top panel, and it's a good cage but I wouldn't recomended it if your gonna be moving it a lot or for the car as you mentioned. There is no bottom panel so the bottom and bedding get messed up. It is good for giving a guinea pig space though. |

I agree that there is no reason to move the cage daily. If you want easy access to clean under it, build a stand. Grids work fine for this, but you can use something else too. For car trips, you can use a carrier or a small cage. You shouldn't be taking them in the car much at all though--it is stressful. No cage large enough will fit in a normal size car without being collapsed first. Overall, a C&C cage is your best bet. It will be cheap, sturdy, and easy to clean. Putting it on casters is an excellent idea if you really need to move it around. |

Yes, the smallest cage for two pigs is a 2x4 but make it as big as you can. If you have boars I would go for a 2x5. |

In aw how did you work out the square feet? They are not in the car all the time but, when we go away for a weekend they come too, and my car is a large people carrier, there is practly a double bed size space in the back with the seats down. |

Actually inner dimensions are often quite a bit smaller than outer dimensions. They often measure around the base to make the cage seem a lot larger than it is. I used an online converter to get from square meters to square feet. Just type "square meters feet conversion" into google and you'll come up with a few. Since you do have the space, if you use lots of zip ties, the C&C cage should be sturdy enough to move into your car without collapsing it. |
