Question Litter box

I'm going to switch to fleece bedding, but I want to know if I can litter box train my guinea pigs before I switch. If I put them in the cage with fleece, and put a large litter box full of carefresh in the cage, will they naturally do their business in the boxes? If not, how can I teach them? If I can't, I'm still going to switch to fleece, but it would be really useful if I could teach them. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Litter box

Piggies will pee where they want to, usually in a secure corner. The trick to 'litter training' is to have the tray where they want to go rather than where you want it to be. It's more like they litter train us to be honest! I found having the litter tray under the loft was a success because they felt safe there with a roof over them. I imagine a small towel roof over that part of the cage would work equally well. They also pee and poop most where the hay rack is, so have the hay rack over the litter tray. It's gross to us, but pooping in your kitchen is the guinea pig way. One of my piggies will get up to go to the litter tray, the other pees in his hidey, so extra towels under hideys is a good move too.
