Oops! Sorry ShainaBee. I didn't see your post untill after Lissie had answered or I would have gladly help you with that link. I wasn't ignoring you, we must have been posting at almost the same time. Sometimes it takes me a bit to get a post posted. Proofreading and all that goodness. |

Quote from Piggy BedSpreads: Layer 1 A soft & colorful premium anti-pill fleece wicks away urine from the surface into the next layer keeping your piggies dry. This layer hugs and covers all 4 walls (inside & out) and creates the top layer of the floor. Layer 2: A non-toxic, non-allergenic textile made from a blend of natural and man-made fibers. Commonly used as a middle layer sewn into washable diapers and washable, absorbent under pads. This soaker material absorbs 10 times its weight and is more absorbent than the best absorbing knits on the market. Layer 3: This layer is a medical / veterinary grade waterproof barrier fabric which prevents leaks and seepage into the coroplast tray Minor seepage could occur if the spread is not washed and dried on a weekly basis Last edited by Somanypets; 04-13-09 at 10:44 pm. I forgot to mention another reason that I took off the top floor of the cage. When the pigs were in it the whole thing would sway! I was scared it would collapse on them. |

I think that's why I like the towels/fleece method. When my babies (all teenagers now. ) were in diapers, I used cloth. I tried every variety under the sun, and kept coming back to the "old fashioned" flat sort. I found that they were easier to wash, and worked the best. The "really thick!" kind often had polyfill (which IS thick, but not absorbant at all), or so many layers that they were hard to get really clean in the wash. I recently went to JoAnn (fabric store) and got enough fleece and coordinating cotton fabrics to do 3-4 sets of bedding (complete with hidey-hut covers and cozies) for our 3x5+loft cage for less than $100. When I asked about a custom "piggie beadspread" I was quoted well over $300, just for one, and just for the ground floor. |

I heard that if you are looking for coroplast in Canada, you have to ask for correx...not sure about that though. |

I finally found it at home depot but had to describe it to the sales guy. What was really strange is that it was called coroplast on the label. |

how big is your top level? Is your cage made of grids? I have a cage mad of grids which is 4x2 with an L shaped upper level (check out my photos) I have attached the upper level grids with connectors ans secured it with lots of cable ties. We tested it before allowing the pigs on it and it is almost strong enough for me to sit on! No supporting grids or poles necessary-which would take away from the running space downstairs. Hope this helps. |

Jenni: My top layer is designed exactly like yours and the bottom is made out of the grids with the connectors and cable ties but when I go to put the new addition on it won't sit on the bottom (hope that makes sense) |

Are the flat sort made of 100% cotton? Do you think they will work better than regular towels? |

http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...per-level.html I bought a piece of wood from Home Depot. It's 1 3/8 x 1 3/8 x 8'. I cut it to the cage length and just slide into the grid. |

other than that I don't know what to suggest! When we added our top level we had to totally dissemble the cage and start again-it wouldn't just "add on" (I don't know why!) |
