Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hello everyone, I'm newer to the Guinea Pig world and I need help with a question. I have a 10 week old piggie who I had in a C&C cage that is 2X3. I realized later that the cubes were the too big ones (8X8). He escaped twice with those cubes, so I lined the inside with cardboard hopeing that would keep him in. Well last night he got out again ....we're thinking he got on top of his hay bed and got out. Anyways, we really dont want him to get hurt.. so we're looking for help as to what to use to keep the little bugger in. We cut the top of the hay bed off so he can't climb on top and jump out. Also I know he might be a bit bored, he does had a tunnel and pigloo and toys to push around. He is an only pig for the time being.(we'll be changing that in the future)Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Last edited by Ly&Pigs; 10-13-08 at 12:12 pm. First off, typing in different colors for any reason other than emphasis isn't really allowed. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ost-first.html - This should give you an idea about what is allowed and not allowed during posting. Probably the best thing to do is replace the grids, because not only will he keep escaping, but there is a chance his head will get caught and he could suffocate or break his neck trying to get his head out. |

First, I want to apologize about using color in my typing... I did not see the forum about the rules. Thank you for pointing that out. I will not use color in the future. Second, I also wanted to say that we have cardboard all the way up to the top of the grids so right now he can't stick his head through anything. He must've climbed on top of his hay bed and jumped over the cardboard and grids. We cut the hay bed top off so he can't get up on it now. So I am thinking we need to buy mesh grids or something similar? I'm not sure where I can find those though...? |

Your welcome about the color thing-you don't want any problems with the mods. I got my grids at Bed Bath and Beyond, and they are exactly what you need. They are $14.99, and if you have coupons, you can use as many as you want, so it becomes really cheap! Tell me if you want the link. |

The 8x8 grids are unsafe. You really need to find grids that have the 9x9 holes in them or mesh ones if you can find them. Did you get your grids at Target? Once you get safer grids you will still need to babyproof and if you have a little climber, you may need to put a temporary lid on the cage. Dra, please see the private message I sent you. |

Yes I got them at Target, and didn't see that they were smaller until I got them home. Is a 9X9 still safe for my baby or do I need to stagger them too? |
