Wire floor questions.

No, I am not using one, no, I have not used one before, and no, I never will. But my most recent pig came from a home that kept him in a wire-bottom cage, and I have some questions about it.

Could he lie down on it? It doesn't seem like he'd be able to, or at least not comfortably, but cavies lie down to sleep, so wouldn't he have to?

There's no way he could run on wire flooring, could he? Because his previous owner said he liked to run around his cage, but when we brought him home and put him on solid fleece ground, it was heartbreaking: he walked so carefully, as if to check for the wires.

So those are my two questions: could he lie down or run. Makes me sad thinking about it.

Re: Wire floor questions.

Possibly to both. But very uncomfortably.
