Cage placement - size or socialization? My Penny definitely needs a bigger cage. The problem is that the only space I can find is in the laundry room. It's a big, sunny room, but it is well off the beaten path. Right now, her cage is in a spot where she can usually see us and we see her. I fear that out of sight will be out of mind where Penny is concerned - my kids would need to make special trips to visit her and I don't imagine that will happen after very long. Which is more important - a roomy cage or a spot where she feels a part of things?

Re: Cage placement - size or socialization? I vote for a spot where she will be seen and interacted with.

Re: Cage placement - size or socialization? I agree. We have a smaller cage and only one piggy because of space issues. Cookie's cage is in the kitchen on the counter. She can see all over and I'm in there most of the day. If we moved her into the playroom, she would be lonely. I'm not in there much. Human interaction is so important to them.

Re: Cage placement - size or socialization? Socialization was my gut first choice. Honestly, these are the two issues I'm feeling badly about right now - small cage and not enough interaction - so it's hard to choose one or the other.

Re: Cage placement - size or socialization? A small cage can be sorta offset by as much floor time as possible. Since she is an "only child", being where she can see, hear and order you around is really important. Give her the best you can and when you can give her better, do. Just love her to pieces - tough job, no?

Re: Cage placement - size or socialization? Nope! Today we bought her a "second floor" in her cage. It is very low, so she has a big hidey hole now (under the second floor). It opened up a lot more floor space. We've also been giving her more time outside of her cage. I hope she'll be a bit happier! Thanks for all the great advice!
