Upgrade Assistance I have two guinea pigs. On Sunday I built them their first 2x3 C&C cage. I'm trying to squeeze a little more space in my small room because I want to make it at least a 2x4. Is there anyway possible that I can extend the cage without having to buy another sheet of coroplast?

Re: Upgrade Assistance I also have a 2x1 upper level? Is a 2x3 with a 2x1 upper level enough space for 2 guinea pigs or would it be better for me to try to build a 2x4 with a 2x1 upper level?

Re: Upgrade Assistance The more space the better, especially if you have boars. You can extend the coroplast by buying more and taping it to the existing coroplast.

Re: Upgrade Assistance Thanks. I thought about that but for some unknown reason I didn't think that would work. But I'm going to try it. I thought my only alternative would have been to buy, re-cut and re-size an entire new sheet of coroplast to fit the 2x4. Thanks again.

Re: Upgrade Assistance I have redone my cages so many times, I have peices of all different sizes taped together to make the larger 3X7 I have now.

Re: Upgrade Assistance Really? I'm kind of glad to hear that. I was a little nervous about doing that but I'm going to. i just know that I have to secure the coroplast really well. I came home two days ago and almost had a heart attack because all I saw was an empty cage. As I got closer I realized there were two lumps under the fleece. My little nibbler, Precious, pulled the fleece out and made a way for herself and Patches to get underneath it. Lol. When I first made the cage I only lined the bottom with towels and then put the fleece on top because I didn't think they would be able to get underneath the fleece. I was having a hard time finding coroplast and figured maybe I didn't need it. I made the cage Sunday and found the coroplast Monday and came home to two lumps underneath the fleece on Wednesday. Talk about luck. The only thing that kept running through my mind was what if I didn't have any coroplast between the towels and the grids. The next time I fixed the cage I secured the fleece with binder clips and woke up to finding Precious nibbling at the fleece where she made her opening the day before and trying very hard to do it again. Only this time she was unsuccessful. I am already excited about extending their cage. I'm glad to know that someone was able to do it successfully. I was looking in the photo gallery and I found a sample of the cage that I intend to build. Thanks Ly&Pigs and Ziggy&Herald.

Re: Upgrade Assistance I'm sure your piggies will love it. Maybe try and make a tent with some extra fleece so she still has some she can get under.

Re: Upgrade Assistance Before I got wise and started using binder clips to put my fleece down, I had to chase my piggies out from under it. When I had an upper level, the hay room was made entirely out of duct-taped coroplast remnants and peel and stick linoleum tiles on top of a dollar store tablecloth on the grids. Now that I have a hay corner and a single level, the "stop throwing hay through the holes" walls are made of duct-taped coroplast. I just recently found out my cousin can give me coroplast in any color I want, so I can redo their cage (again) without having to stea...erm... clean up another political sign.
