Unhappy Stuck in a loose/loose situation.

Okay so I guess the title explains it...I'm stuck in a loose/loose situation with cage location and/or size. I need opinions on the better of the possibilities, though they are both not ideal. Thankfully they are both only temporary. Here's the story and reason- We are moving, which means selling the house...and we really need to get top dollar for it, now here come the problem, Chewie and Charlie's cage is sorta big, it takes up just over half of my room, the other half is occupied by a queen sized bed. Its not a small room, I'd say its medium sized it is 12' by 14' but with the pigs' cage it seems tiny. And according to some Realtor, people won't buy our house (or at least for the price we need them to) if they think my room is small, which I think is crazy because I mean, if I walked into a house and seen a huge piggy cage I'd be delighted that the pigs were well cared for etc. but apparently other people don't think that way So long story short, I either need to downsize their cage drastically(and keep them in my room) or they can have their whole cage move to the basement (its a walk-out, therefore has full sized windows so it has tons of natural light). What would be the best of the choices, if I down sized the cage it'd be a 2x4 or possible a 2x5, if I moved it to the basement it'd be at least the same size as it is now, possibly larger because I have extra grids. Right now, the cage is a 2x8 on a grid stand with a 3x4 area on the floor, its 36sq. ft, if I did the math right. Here is a pic it also sorta shows how little room I have, the two little walk way things between the cage and the dresser and between the cage and my bed is all the space there is to walk, it continues on for like a few feet on the side with the dresser, but it gets even tighter because I have shelf made out of grids that petty much covers my closet door.

I still have a month or so to make a decision on what to do, but what do you guys think would be best?

I'm leaning towards moving them to the basement, but I'm still not sure its a very good idea.

Oh and also, their floortime room in the basement will have to be taken down, so if I did the downsizing they would still have floortime, but not their room for it, so it'd be bunches harder on my part and they would probably have a bit less than now, since now all I really have to do is carry them down to their room.
((their are pics of the floortime room in the gallery))

I'm not sure if I said it already, but I have 2 boars. And also, it will only be a temporary change, as soon as we move they will have their full sized cage- if not bigger, again, and also be in either my room or the main part of the house, again.

Re: Stuck in a loose/loose situation.

I would just make a temporary 2 or 3 level 2 x 4 cage that way they still get to stay up stairs with you and you get to show the room size better. I am sure the boys will deal with the smaller cage for a little bit and maybe you could give more floor time. Nice setup by the way.

Re: Stuck in a loose/loose situation.

Can you downsize and use the extra grids for a "pen" in the basement for floortime since their room is being taken down? That way it won't be AS hard on you for floortime, maybe. Not sure how well your guys can flip up the grids on a bare floor!

If it were me, honestly, I'd keep their big cage and put them in the basement and live down there with them, then give them floortime wherever there was space.

Re: Stuck in a loose/loose situation.

I think the basement, since it has a lot of light should be fine. If it isn't damp there and you wouldn't mind going down there for homework etc. once in a while for extra company then it seems like a good possibility.

Since it's only temporary it should be a good idea...

Re: Stuck in a loose/loose situation.

Maybe take away the floor pen, make it collapsible, then take off the 2x2 that makes the cage an L cage, keep the ramp in and when you can, attach the pen and let them out?
