I have currently 3 guinea pigs all about 1 year old in a 24x60 cage.. and I'm adding my old cage too which is about 2 feet long. I was planning to adopt 1 more guinea pig to make 4 but I dont know if my cage is big enough. Its a 24x60 with my 2 feet long old cage. Is it to small?

Re: Is my cage big enough? Your current cage is only 10sqft which is a bit (3sqft) too small. If your pigs are female and get along really well, you might be able to get away with keeping what you have. If you have males you should definitely add on. Also, if you want to add another pig, you should add on as well. The bigger, the better.

Re: Is my cage big enough? I have 2 males and 2 levels are 2 x 4 grids and the center one is in the shape of a C and as I look at it I think it is to small but it is way bigger than required! I have a feeling I am going to need more room because I have a feeling I am going to expand ![]()

Re: Is my cage big enough? So the 2ft section adds 4sq ft? 2'x2'? That would make the absolute minimum for 4 pigs but I do not suggest it. It will seem cramped to anyone who has kept pigs in the recommended size cage and if they are males or you have more dominant pushy females they may not get along. Plus your cage is rather narrow. They don't have a lot of room to get around houses or turn corners. Personally I prefer to go 2 1/2grids or about 3' wide. Wide enough they can get around houses but narrow enough to reach the back for cleaning. I'd either add the extra 2' section and stick with 3 pigs or preferably scrap the cage, build a proper c&c that is at least 28" wide, and then if you make it big enough (shoot for 16sq ft, a 2x6, or more) I'd add a 4th pig. It would only cost you around $50 to redo the cage as a c&c at the size you want instead of squishing together cage sections that are too narrow.
