Cage idea?

I currently have a 2x5 for my 2 male guinea pigs. I would like to expand it to a 3x5 with a 2x4 or 2x5 loft area. Would that work? Would the loft count as sqft because of its size? I was just thinking that this would give them a ton of space and sqables would break out less often. Do you think it could work?

For the top I would put grids and then the coroplast on top of them for support and I would leave space for where the ramp comes out.

Re: Cage idea?

It would most likely work as it would be much larger than it is now but the loft still won't count toward overall square footage. It will, however, provide extra space for one to get away to avoid squabbles.

Re: Cage idea?

Why wont the upstairs count for sqare footage if it is 2x5? Also if I put the ramp along the back wall and disclude the 1x5 part of the cage will the other 2x5 count?

Re: Cage idea?

This has been debated to hell and back. I personally think that if you have a large enough bottom level and a large enough top level, it will help because all of their food and other accessories can go up the top freeing up space for zoomies down the bottom floor.
