I need opinions on a cage idea I have.

Hello,
I need some opinions. I have found something that I am thinking of making a cage out of for my two pigs. It is actually a store display case like you would display jewlery in.

The backside has doors for opening and closing that I would more than likely permenantly remove so that it would have plenty of air circulation. I would be replacing the doors with grids so that it would make it cat/dog safe. Its also tall enough that I could modify it to make an upper and lower level with plenty of space on each.

Also another bonus for me is that the top is large enough that my bird cages could be safely placed on it without worrying about seeds falling into the pigs area. I also love the fact that it is off the ground. I have had some issues with the C&C cage being on the floor. There is a picture below of an example.

The person said there are several to choose from. What do the cage guru's think?

What are the inside usable dimensions of this cage and how many pigs do you plan on housing in it?

Well the person I spoke with told me they are about 6ft long but they have oddly shaped ends which make them a bit longer. The photo sort of shows that. She didnt say how wide but from the looks of it I would guess at least 2ft if not 3ft wide. It would just be for my two boys. Right now they are in a 2X5 C&C cage so the new cage would be about the same area only it would have an upper level with the same space as well. I know upper level space doesnt "count" but still it would be nice for the boys.

My major concern inst space (this would be plenty for my guys) its more of would it be ok as far as safty is concerned. Is it too much like a tank because of the glass or would one side of it being replaced by cubes give it enough air, know what I mean?

Well if you don't replace a great portion of it with grids it will be too much like a big tank. Not good for the pigs at all. How much of it do you think that you could replace with the grids? I'm thinking that you would need some on the front and back replaced with grids to make sure that the air was circulating. I'll be interested to see what other members think.

The major concern I have is that there isn't enough air circulation in there. Any bedding will retain moisture that can cause URI or bumblefoot.
