Warming up a cage?

Hi, I need a solution to warm up my cage besides turning on the heat because in our finished basement there are no heat vents and its cold unless we start a woodstove. I have an electric heater but we need it else where in the house. Any suggestions that will give them a place to warm up. And I have a cuddlecup but I heard that cozies keep them warmer. All help is appreciated.

Re: Warming up a cage?

Get a space heater to put next to their cage, and give them some cozies and warm blankies. Here is a pic of a cozy I made, it required no sewing for say, , I bought a flat small dog bed and then I took scissors and stuck holes through where a normal person wound sew the corners and I put cable ties through the holes and tied them, it works really good and it took about 5 mins to make here is a picture of it.
The whole thing:

How I tied it:

Re: Warming up a cage?

I don't know if this would work with piggies.

What I do for my rats is I take a heating pad that doesn't have an automatic shut off. I put that under 1/2 of the cage, wrapped in a pillow case, and set it on low. The rats will push all the bedding to the other side, then curl up together on the warmed floor of the cage. If it is during the day and warmer, then they will simply move to the other side of the cage where the floor is cool, or to the upper levels.

If it is safe for piggies, then maybe a heating pad under just one corner of the cage where he (they) like to sleep could be an option.
