Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

I feel so privileged, ha ha. I found the "Keeping it All in Place" 6-Cube System at Meijers. I got two boxes of them, so I have 48 cubes, enough to make a cage, stand, and whatever else I want to do with the cubes. I didn't realize they were so big! I knew they were 14" or 14.5" square, I just didn't think to think of how big that was, .

Now I just have to find a rubber mallet or get a hammer with some towels or some cardboard to hammer the connectors onto the grids, I can't do it to make it fit good enough without some help from some fellow tools, ha ha.

Sorry, I just wanted to share my joy, I thought I'd never find them!

By the way, I found them at the Meijers in Lima, Ohio, I'm going to add it to where I found them on CC.com.

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

I'm thinking either 2x4 or 2x5 on the bottom, and if I have a 2x4 I will have a 1x2 second level but if I have a 2x5 I will have a 2x2 second level.

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

Be careful of making the second level too deep. It will be hard to clean under it! That's what happened to me with the last cage! Good luck!

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

denise bring up an important type. if you did a 2x5 (which i would definately reccomend) consider making an 'L' shape upper deck that is 1 cube deep but lines all the way of two sides.

could you understand that at all? ok, you can try comprehend this picture, but i know that if i hadnt made it, it would make no sense when i looked at it. LOL!

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

I found cubes too, but I can't have them I don't live in the States so I'm having a great deal of trouble finding them. I've been looking everywhere! Someone on this forum who lives in the Netherlands mentioned a store (Blokker) that had them last year. Seeing how we have that too I decided to go search for them today. In the third store I checked out they finally had them. They were all over the place in all their displays! But my excitement was pretty brief. When I asked one of the store clerks for help she told me they didn't sell them anymore & she couldn't sell me any of theirs.

So there I was surrounded by cubes & none for me...

I'm so frustrated!!!

But I guess all I can do is keep looking. *sigh* Maybe there's a Blokker out there that has some they don't need...

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

Maybe someone around you found some and can ship some to you, I know it might be quite costly but if that's all you can find that's your only option pretty much I guess.

I have decided on a 2x4 cage with a 1x2 upper deck, it is coming together quite nicely! I posted a picture of what I have done so far on GL.

How annoying citro! Maybe you could try wire shelving.

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

I thought about wire shelving too, but up to now I haven't seen any that would work. Chicken wire has been another possibility, but I'd rather just leave that for outside when it's spring.

I'm not sure about shipping, if it costs too much than I may as well just buy a really big cage. But I'd love to find a cube source nearby, so that I can "redecorate" if I have to, like you Sierra

I can never find the stuff I need for my pets around here (probably because I'm also really picky.) The last time I went to NY half my suitcase was stuffed with habitrail add-ons for my now deceased hamster, Niblet.

So I'm going to be trying another Blokker today & an Officecenter tomorrow. *fingers crossed*

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

Hello,

Not sure where you live but I am in UK. If you go onto Http://www.ebay.co.uk and type in cubes storage you will see a chap is selling them on there for £5 for 24 which is really good value an dshipping is only £6.00 not sure if this helps anyone.

Thanks

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

Thanks for the link
That's a pretty good deal, but I was able to find cubes some yesterday!

After another dead end I went back to one of the Blokker's I had already been to. They hadn't put them on display, so I never knew they had them. But I figured if they didn't use them for their displays, they may have them in storage just lying around. And I was right! So I was able to get 12 for 5 euro.

And in a min i'm going to go to a place that has coroplast. It's called "vikuprop" over here in Belgium. But I'm concerned about it not being exactly the same as coroplast. I think it's the same material, but they don't send them in even, straight sheets. Vikuprop has little waves on it. Has anyone heard of coroplast like that ??

Re: Yeah! I finally found some cubes!

Nevermind. Vikuprop is exactly the same as coroplast. Now I have two big sheets & I can finally get to work on Phoebe's cage. Yay
