I have a question for you all. I still haven't been able to find my pigs a new home and so I'm thinking since this is aperently gonna take longer than I thought it would I'm gonna get them a bigger cage so they can be happier. So since i can't afford or have time to put together a cavy cage I have been looking on the net for other ones and I found this one. It is actually a ferit cage and that's why I want to know if it will work for my pigs. I'm really not sure about the tube at the bottom, whould they be ok in that or do you think they would get stuck? Even if I buy this one I can always take that out and put a ramp in there. oh and also I will take the hamock out. they definately don't need that they will probably just fall off and I don't want them to get hurt! |

How much is this cage going to cost you? You can just buy a C&C cage from this forum and assemble it yourself in a matter of a very short time. They come with cubes, connectors and coroplast. The ferret cage really isn't suitable as they could fall off those ramps and get injured very easily. The pipe looks ok but it's hard to say for sure because I don't know the exact measurements of it and how big your pigs are. I am going to have to say don't buy that cage. |

This will not do, not do at all. Guinea pig's need roaming and playing space, not levels. That cage I'm asuming is way over $50. What makes a C&C cage so expensive? Mine was $30 when I was done. And seeing that your concerned about safety, what's so safe about being on a level that high? They can fall off anytime. It's the length and width of the cage that matters, not height. And no they most likley won't use the tube. Ferrets are more flexible. Also, why are you giving away your pigs but still getting them a new home? |

I would say it is to small, and to make a cage is very cheap. |

Not to mention that if your pig tried to jump from the top level of that cage, you'd probably have very serious injury to the poor thing. |

I've never seen a cage like that for less than $100-200. A suitable C&C cage for 3-4 pigs (2X6) would easily cost less than $50 if you buy grids and a piece of coroplast or linoleum. Where did you find that cage online for less than it would cost to build a C&C? Should you use a ferret cage? I wouldn't recommend it. Guinea pigs are ground dwellers and need more horizontal than vertical space to run around. Those tubes are very possibly too narrow, and there don't appear to be sides on those higher levels, so I'd say there is definitely too much danger of your pigs falling off and hurting themselves. |

The ramps leading to the upper floors are too steep for pigs. They would never go up so you are only looking at the ground floor. |
