I see that there are alot of towels but being a blonde , I cant imagine how the piggies dont use that as a bathroom or how to keep it clean. Need help~ Thanks, Wendy |

A lot of what you are seeing is fleece blankets or fleece material in the cages with towels, mattress pads, crib pads, newspaper, etc. underneath for absorbancy. There is no way to "prevent" a pig from going to the bathroom on the fleece. You can put a litter pan in there in the hopes that your pig(s) will train themselves to use it, but that is only for peeing as they will poo whereever they happen to be. To keep fleece clean it must be spot cleaned daily, meaning to remove all the poos. Depending on the size of the cage and the number of pigs housed in it will determine how often the fleece needs to be changed out. It's more time consuming to use fleece as bedding but it's healthier and more cost effective in the long run vs. using shavings or recycled paper products. |

Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Thank You! That really helped out. This is my daughter's pig, but I really hate to admit this but I am more attached to it than she is! Would vinyl table cloth work better, underneath the fabric? |
