Re: outside
What type of fence do you have?

Re: outside
As long as you keep a close eye on her and the grass has not been recently fertilized or treated with any chemicals it should be OK. A lot of the forum folks here take their piggies outside for play time.

Re: outside
its a chain link fence, im always really close to her, she tends not to go to far, and i dont treat the lawn. i used to let weeds grow and she loved to hide in them.

Re: outside
Just make sure you really stay on top of her! I would think she could get around a chin link fence if she wanted too! And if it is really sunny, provide a place to get out of the sun if she is out for very long.

Re: outside
I would use a perimeter pen at least, and stand by to watch over her.
Make sure it isn't too hot and there are no dogs around. I have heard sad stories about heat stroke and dogs/predators jumping the fence out of nowhere.

Re: outside
Well look at it this way - if you are giving her outdoor time, she's been helping herself to at least some variety of pre-hay... the grass! Now, just add some hay to her diet and you'll be heading in an even better direction!

Re: outside
There might be gaps under the fence, they might be made by other animals or not be visible. I would use a pen, like cube grids tied together, and watch out for hawks and poisonous weeds. it's a lot easier to keep and eye on a piggy in a pen, and to recapture them!
