Question Hi, I'm new and have a few questions...

I was wondering, is PVC ok for piggies to use? And how big do they have to be?

Yes, pvc is ok. I would get the 4" diameter, unless you have very small piggies. Depending on what you are using it for, you can also get garden drainage tubing, which is corogated & helps with traction if using for a ramp. It is also thinner & can be cut with a good pair of scissors or a utility knife, unlike pvc.

Hi and welcome! Yes guinea pigs can have pvc pipe. I think 4" diameter is best. So your piggy won't get stuck.

Re: Hi, I'm new and have a few questions...

I've heard 6" for PVC pipes. Interesting. I was looking at some today and found them to be very expensive!

Anyway, welcome to the forums Ichnuema. You'll find a lot of helpful information throughout the boards if you search through. See you around!

Re: Hi, I'm new and have a few questions...

I have a 6" PVC arch, but that is really quite huge. A 4" is fine unless your piggers are really big. Incidently, if you have cats, they like the PVC tubes too. I made the mistake of leaving mine in the family room before I got it upstairs and found my 12 year old cat in it with his head and front legs out one end and his tail and back legs out the other. I'm still waiting for him to do it again, so I can get a picture!
You might also want to do a search in the forums for PVC ramp. A couple members have cut tubes in half to make ramps to the second level of their cages.

I am one of those members who uses pvc pipe for ramps. It's cut in half lengthwise and covered with fleece. Makes a great ramp.

As far as size you need at least 4" but you can also use 6". I have 3 pvc pipe tunnels and they are all 4". Even my fat CoCo and Oats can fit through them still.
