I am not using coroplast for a base in my cage, but thought I could put it to use by making huts and stuff out of it. So I was wondering, how do you keep the sides of it together? Thanks for reading.

Re: "How-To" Question I wouldn't use glue. Duct tape is good and comes in colors now and clear packing tape works rather well. I am curious as to what you are using as a tray/base for your C&C if you aren't using coroplast.

Re: "How-To" Question I use cable ties (zip ties). Punch a couple of small holes, slip the ties through and zip it tight.

Re: "How-To" Question Okay, I thought maybe glue that you use from a glue gun would be safe, but wasn't sure. I am using plexi-glass for a base, and attatching a thicker, heavier kind of coroplast for the sides (to keep in shavings). We are going to support it by also making a wood base for the outside, and grooving out a space in the top of the wood. Then using closet shelving, we will have that set into the wood, so you just up the shelving to get to the base. It is difficult to explain, it's my dads design that he wants me to build. However, I at least have some good decorating ideas. I'm surprised he even left that part up to me.

Re: "How-To" Question I use glue for plastic that I found in Home Depot. I can't remember the name of it, and can't find the tube at the moment! Since the glue is used on the outside of the cage box, I can't see at all why it would pose a problem.

That all sounds like a lot more work & expense than a simple coro base. ![]() |

Re: "How-To" Question Pigaroo Mama: Yes, plexi glass is expensive. Luckily, my dad has an 8x6 foot sheet in the basement I can have, if I can get the paper off of it. The corrugated plastic that is like coroplast but thicker and clear, we got for free. It was extra pieces from a club my dad belongs to, when they enclosed a smoking area. The wood, shelving, and aquarium sealant are my main expenses. I bought shelving already, I just need the lumber and sealant. Yes, it is going to be A LOT of work! Work that I can't do on my own, so my boyfriend will be coming over to help, as well as my dad to supervise. It is all my dads idea and his design. That and, we couldn't get the right size of corrugated plastic for a main base.
