Definitely babyproof your cage! It didn't even occur to me when I got my baby pig and he got his head and one arm through the grid. When I turned around, his head was inside my 80lb dog's mouth! Luckily the dog was just licking him and didn't try to pull him out of the cage.

I agree with the extra coroplast because of the added advantage of keeping bedding from being kicked out of the cage.
