It happens a lot more than people think. There are countless stories of people who bought pigs in petstores right here on these forums where one pig was missexed and because of that a lot of unncessary pregnancies happened. Many of these pigs are from these large chain stores. |
I have to finally admit this: First I would like to say I have learned so much from this site, and have become educated and enlightened about chain Pet Stores and the need to rescue from shelters and why!
But here is the truth: I adopted my 2 females, Bella and Emma, from PetCo the end of June 2009, and Bella delivered 4 pups on August 8. I did not think it would be possible Bella could be pregnant, because I trusted the store to know what they were doing. After learning everything from this site, I would never trust orbuy an animal from any Pet Store.
I have since found out I have a very nice local shelter. Shame on me, but my point is, I adopted (bought) a pregnant
GP, that is why my litter was unexpected. Shame on me for not realizing the reality before coming to this site, but this just proves again what Ly is trying to tell us. And By the way, I live on Cape Cod, just over an hour from Boston, I don't care where the pet store is, things happen to these poor animals before they are sold - Also when pets are not sold right away in one store, they move them around to different ones, to make it look like they have a "fresh" supply. I learned the hard way on this one!
