It Sounds to me like your okay. If you buy rats though you can place then in a room and they will run around. Gerbiel food and rat food mixed is better for them. They need a small cage with lots of toy and a small nesting area. You shouldn't buy 2 males (they fight) and you shouldn't buy a male and female(they mate). You should get two females.
