Piggiemom's advice is excellent. Also read the fleece project sticky. Fleece is not supposed to be absorbent. After you read up on how it works you will have better luck.

The dollar store may be a place for towels as well. Or if you have any old mattress pads, those work great too.

As for floor time, give them lots of veggies scattered throughout the area and lots of places to hide. Do it regularly even if they don't move much. They'll eventually become more curious.
