There are rescuers and those who are quite knowledgeable about parrots but it is very difficult to allow them their natural behaviors in the average household.

They are meant to fly long distances, many miles per day. They are meant to chew and scream. They're basically a toddler with a can opener on their faces! LOL They are meant to have the security of a flock. These cannot be disputed as their natural behaviors. We humans have taken them out of their natural environments and attempted to domesticate them. They may be tame but they are still, at heart, wild animals.

This is not to say that the birds existing in homes today should not be loved by us humans, it's my own *personal* opinion that we should probably leave these very complex beings in the wild, flying miles overhead where they belong.

If you do have parrots, go ahead, love them, care for them, enrich their daily lives as best you can but I wouldn't suggest going out and getting another. Take an honest look at this.

This is my point, the ones we have now, need to be taken care of. And for someone to say, if you cant have two that are bonded you shouldnt have any....does ANYONE get how this is so very wrong? They are not guinea pigs that need the company. Instead of getting a second parrot to care for the first you are having issues with, they should learn how to deal with the ONE parrot and give the ONE parrot that attention it craves.
When cared for correctly, we become the foster flock. And this is where people need to learn what that means, and I will be the first to admit, not everyone can or should have a parrot. I throw out about 20 applications, and might only get 1 that MAY be acceptable. And I throw out the ones that say, I want a colorful, talking bird. Or the ones that say, my cockatoo screams I need to get it a buddy. I get about 5 of those types DAILY.

So yes...it SICKENS me to see someone just say that with no knowledge of what they are saying. I STILL believe that this is what this site is against. I mentioned scurvy once and got rudely told about that. And yes it makes me soooo utterly ticked that this can be looked over for whatever reason. Being its not a guinea pig, or that I happen to be the one that said something. Whatever the reason....it needs to be told and heard that is information is wrong. Because it will in no way shape or form help the birds we currently have in our homes.

If anyone wants, I can post you some pictures I have of birds that are so plucked because the bird was so devastated with the new bird *buddy* the owners bought to make them *happy*
