But you know what? NO bird that normally lays a clutch of eggs sits on their egg right after they lay it. They lay what the bird considers a full clutch and then start sitting - otherwise the chicks would hatch on different days. The taking of the egg is enough to make the bird lay another one rather than start to brood. That's still a natural instinct.
