I will have my dog off leash only when I am deep into the park and there is no one else there. The best time for that is around 6am, it is also legal at this time. It wouldn't be appropriate to have him off leash in mid afternoon on a warm day when the park is generally pretty crowded. My dog also is very well behaved and listens to my commands, he will stop and walk back to me when i ask him to. If I see any other dogs or pedestrians in the area, i immediately leash him, as you cannot predict if the other dog is friendly or aggressive towards other dogs by the way he looks. I have encountered some dog aggressive Labradors and friendly outgoing rotties. It is stupid for anyone to let their dog off leash during the peak hours at a park, no matter how well behaved the dog is. |
