Question Peanut butter

I'm trying to get some info on the safety of peanut butter and having very little luck. Some sites say it contains a carcinogen, but other sites say it's not an issue. So, I figured if anyone would know about it, it would be someone on a vegetarian forum.

I love peanut butter. I eat it almost every day for lunch with an apple, and I eat alot of it...probably 3-4 tablespoons worth. I buy the supermarket brand (the organic stuff is just too gritty and sticky for me), and I've been eating it for years. I find it very satisfying, and it really sticks by me better than most other things I eat. Weight is not an issue for me, since I've always been thin and haven't gained any weight since I started my PB lunch routine.

My main concern then, is the whole carcinogen matter. I just stumbled on it today, and it kind of freaked me out. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!
