Re: Man kills dog in metroparks

It is a bad situation all around, but put yourself in the shoes of the guy who was walking his dog on a leash, not bothering anyone. It does say he tried to get the dogs apart before he shot the the rottie. The shooting appears to have been a last resort. I would have shot the attacking dog, too as I could not stand by and watch my own dog be mauled to death. Plus what sort of danger would I be in myself? What if that dog chewed up my pet, then went after me? While we all here value animal life, there are times when we have to decide just what animal's life we value more. It is not a fun decision to have to make and one I would not want to have to make, but it happens. We all would value the life of our own dog above that of the dog attacking it. We would do what is necessary to protect our dog and ourselves. It is unfortunate that some people are too ignorant to train their dogs properly and the untrained dog pays the price.
