I layer my bedding. What kind of material is the bedspread made of? You need something that wicks the moisture for the top layer, like fleece. Some materials just obsorb it and your piggy will still be sitting in wet spots. I use a layer of cardboard, then newspaper, then towels and then fleece on the top. It seems to work pretty well. The cardboard never gets wet, because I change their bedding often and have enough layers on top, but it gives a little extra padding and insullation, because my cage is on the floor.
