I do the same thing. My piggies have free run of the living room during their floor time. They just have to come up the steps into the living room as their designated living area is lower (burrow effect) than my living room. They usually runs back to their safe haven (their home) if there is anything that spook them.

Lately, they have been so comfy "out" roaming that I have to use food to lure them back. One of my piggies even manage to sneak out from the gate... yikes (what happens when that rascal gets too comfortable).

I do not leave water out at all in the living room, only a handful of hay near their potty (they are kinda litter trained). They also barely wee outside, poop mostly in their litter except a few strays here & there (I find out right after they drink, they pee... so they pee at their home base usually).

I love my piggies out & about... they seem to have so much adventures they go on scurrying here & there.

P.S. They also know their name & what is "No".
