How could your dog "have easily run toward the road" more than 4 feet if she's on a leash? Don't tell me your parents are super irresponsible.

Your parents did notify the other dog's owners the first time that their dog was loose and had attacked your dog? Or did your family think "Oh, well, that dog is running loose and might get run over by a car at any moment, and seems aggressive towards other dogs and will probably get in a fight soon, but who cares, we'll just walk around that house and not bother talking to the owners"?

You really should report it. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. If the dog isn't stopped and kills another dog next time, part of the blood is on your hands.

People "let" their dogs do many things they shouldn't. How? Ignorance. Irrational thinking. Apathy. Etc.

Definitely go to the vet, even if you don't think she needs it. What kind of disinfectant did you use?
