Disturbing. Unfortunately, too many animal activists take things too far without thinking about the consequences and they are the ones that give the group as a whole, a bad name. Of course the most extreme acts are used to define those who care about animals and their rights. We don't hear about the good things much, only the crazy, and in my opinion, foolish.

Letting them loose was wrong. Raising them for coats is wrong. What is the best course of action in that situation? I don't know but what they did was certainly not it.

The raising St. Bernards for food was also disturbing but they also had a point about cruelty in raising any animals for food. I'm sure many find that the way animals are "farmed" here is barbaric. I agree with this also. Many countries eat guinea pigs on a regular basis.

There was a case here in NC not too long ago of someone releasing a king Cobra that they claimed was released by animal activists protesting people keeping them as pets. Where is the sense in that?
