Keeping flies away

The weather in the UK has become very hot this week (25-27 degrees centigrade) so the girls have been in their outdoor run enjoying the grass (supervised, of course).

My worry is that with the hot weather come a lot of insects. I know us humans can get insect repellent to put onto our skins, but what can I do about the piggies? In the past I have put a little dab of citronella essential oil on their rumps, is this a good idea? I do worry about fly strike, and would like to know what precautions I can take.

All advice appreciated.
