This isn't an uncommon thing from Petsmart or Petco...If you Youtube PetsMarts Dirty Little Secret you'll find even more "behind the doors" cruelty. People have been trying to get them to change their ways for ages, but so far none of it has worked. My best advise is to boycott their business and write a letter explaining why.
Maybe one day, they'll get a clue.
