What do you think a "Backyard Breeder" is? That "home" had a yard full of dogs and crates (cardboard boxes?) in the home full of puppies. There were "dozens" of puppies to choose from (Oprah's words). The breeder allowed strangers to tromp through her home and handle pups. Has the breeder never heard of Parvo (a disease one of Oprah's own dogs had) or does she just not care?
That breeder may not be technically a puppymill but she is mass produced of low quality animals that get sold to anyone with money to buy.
All I'm saying is that Oprah made a mistake and needs to stop saying she "adopted from breeders". That is foolishness and she needs to own up to her mistakes and use them to help educate. You DO NOT adopt from breeders. You BUY from breeders and Oprah bought from a BAD breeder.
Everyone makes mistakes. The intelligent thing to do is to be able to admit it and use your experience to make a difference.
