May be Taking in some Ratties, Need Help!

Hi guys--

The lady that I adopted my Sukki from (guinea pigger) and I keep in contact, and I update her on Sukki and my other pigs' health and so forth. The other day she sent me a link to a CL's add asking me if there was any way I could help this lady. Her daughter got a rat from a petstore, it was pregnant...and you know the rest. They didn't seperate the boys and girls, and now have a mess on their hands.

Now, I HAVE had ratties before, but IF I do this I want to do it right. If I take them, I will be taking 4 sisters (hoping they aren't pregnant, although the lady said they have now seperated them).

I need to make a cage that will be fast, cheap, and not take up TOO much room. Now, they will be in my bedroom as I still live with the folks. In June, my fiance and I will be married and in a 2 bdrm. condo, where the second room will be "Animal Kingdom", so to speak. So, any advice on building a cage like this? I have seen some C&C's with a bin underneath, does this work? Is it stable?

Also, food/diet wise, I just asked the woman what they are on now, but she hasn't replied. What do you suggest?

Any other rattie tips? I haven't done this since I was 15 so I'm rusty with ratties.

Thanks in advance!
