Re: Can't Find Pigs To Rescue??

Quote:
My mom and I went to Petco and bought Skunky. A few months later, I check on Petfinder and find a bunch of guinea pigs near me. A month or two ago, I found out that the Humane Society was over-loaded with guinea pigs.
I think that this is what happens over and over. I got my first pig at a stupid petstore and as soon as I realized there were pigs on Craigslist, Petfinder and local shelters I felt horrible. Now I make it a point to "just look" for piggies around my area and there are shelter and rescue pigs available all the time. I also like to look in other areas of the country to see if pigs are up for adoption and there always is.

They had about 20 pigs up for adoption, but because they were REWs and PEWs they were disgusting animals and she wanted a prettier pig.
I think many people think that pigs at the humane society are all going to be ill and ugly..while it's true that there will be some sickly pigs at shelters, there are many more beautiful pigs of all ages at shelters around the country. I have seen abbys, teddys, american crested and silkys, as well as a couple of peruvians. Of course I happen to think ALL pigs are beautiful no matter what kind they are and wish I could give them all a home!
But fot those who want a perfect looking pig and think they aren't out there to be adopted, they are!
