Re: Purchasing new Piggy

I too add my plea - please do NOT buy your piggies - please consider adopting!!! There are SO many piggies out there waiting for a good home and you could give them one. There are tonnes of shelters with gorgeous piggies waiting to meet someone like you! You can also check with vets in your area, post an ad, check online. Maybe someone on this forum lives close to you who is trying to rehome their piggies. You have SO many options. If you give us a general idea of where you live, I'm sure members on here can find you plenty of piggies to choose from to adopt! You will be saving a piggie and making room in a shelter for another piggie to be saved.

Pet store piggies come from AWFUL conditions. Breeders don't care about the piggies or their health - they just care about making money. Piggies are very often sick and maybe even pregnant. I have read SO many threads on here about the horrors of pet store purchases. Please take the time to look around this site. You will soon see why this site is so against pet stores selling piggies if you read even a few threads on the topic.

Have you decided to make a C&C cage for your piggies? It's much cheaper than a petstore cage and gives your piggies the room they need and deserve. You will need a good quality pellet like oxbow or kleenmama's. Your piggies will need unlimited grass hay and plenty of fresh veggies every day. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html will give you a great chart with all the info you need on feeding your piggies veggies - how much and how often.

There are so many things to learn about piggies - I learn more every day. I congratulate you on doing research ahead of time. I wish I had! Please stick around, ask questions, search and read and learn. Your piggies will be healthier and happier because of it.
