This whole episode is surreal and bizarre... regardless of whether there was deliberate abuse here or a crazy accident... (I agree it sounds fishy) the whole 'dog accused of sexual assault' is sensationalist and absurd. Sexual assault requires a level of awareness/cognition that dogs simply don't have. I'm not sure of all the exact legal and psychological details- but I have doubts you can charge a dog for any human crime like this. All this does is polarize people further against the pit bulls who are demonized already and set this poor kid up to terrible shame when he gets older (oh you're the kid that got raped by the dog?)

Any way you look at it, it's a tragedy for both the victims. The poor boy and whatever injuries he sustained, and the poor dog who was only following his instincts and ended up being abused. "I had to beat up on the dog to take him away from the baby," he said. If an accident, the whole thing could have been avoided (probably) or certainly handled more delicately. Very sad.
