Bell pepper seeds are not, as far as I can tell, poisonous; bell peppers are apparently the same species as jalapenos, but with two copies of a recessive gene, resulting in no spiciness compared to jalapenos. Jalapenos and other hot peppers are frequently seeded because the heat is concentrated in the seeds and membranes. I can readily believe the seeds might be a choking hazard, though, considering the size and shape, and I did find one reference to melon seeds as a problem in this regard. |
