| Re: Head got stuck
Never heard of that! The grid holes are only 1 and 1/2 inches wide. I've never seen a guinea pig over the age of about 4 or 5 weeks that could possibly get their head stuck in that small of a space, certainly not an adult.
Either you've got a different size grid opening, or you've got a very strangely shaped guinea pig. In either case, you'll need to double up the grids so that the opening is halved. You must always do what is right and safe for your situation with your animals.
If you don't want to double up the grids, you'll need to put some kind of protection up against the side, like cardboard, so he doesn't go running into it. Maybe even laying some newspaper sections up against the wall. He could play with the newspaper that way, too.
Also, it sounds strange to me that he is trying to get out of a run. Exercise areas should be big enough so that they feel like they have lots of room to run around without trying to get out. Maybe make it bigger and add more familiar items inside of it for him to explore. |
