Call your local animal control office and try vet clinics. Many times there are animals but they are not listed on Petfinder especially in more rural areas. I have found it to be a great starting point. Usually, if they don't have any available, they can send you in the right direction to a private rescue or foster program. Good luck on your search and kudos on your choice to adopt rather than buy a pet. |
