Re: Charlie's Photo Journal

Right at the mouth of the river lies the Caerlaverock Estate,

home to both Caerlaverock Castle and the only Scottish Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Centre.

Caerlaverock is vitally important for the Artic, Spitsbergen population of barnacle geese, who migrate here (almost exclusively) for the winter.

This pic. was accompanied by few rude words, as a flock of barnacles flew over, and we tried to keep Charlie in shot! - you can (just) see them in the photo if you maximise the pic!!! - felt like real wildlife photographers! (though I'm sure they don't swear!)

The road to Caerlaverock Castle was looking a bit iffy - there had been some rain that morning!

The Castle is unique in Scotland, built in around 1277, it is triangular!

Charlie's glad this sign doesn't involve him!
