Re: How to introduce piggies to the kids?

Welcome to the forum. I'm a mom of three (10yr old son, 7yr old daughter & a 3yr old daughter). Ok first of all, when you get everything ready and adopt your pair, I would give them a few days to get used to their new surroundings including the sites and sounds of their new home. It's great that their cage will be in the family room. You could have the boys sit by the cage and talk in normal tones to the piggies. This will get them used to the boys' voices.

As far as vacuuming, maybe wait for a few days before springing that on them. My girls are used to it now but I still give them a head's up that I'm going to vacuum by hitting the on button for a brief second and then I'll start to vacuum.

I have a small hand vacuum that I use in their cage which has all fleece in it. Out of the seven girls, two will come up to the vacuum and not really pay it too much attention. The others scatter to other places.

My older two kids have free range of the girls now. When we first got them, they weren't allowed to pick them up and hold them unless I was around but they have gotten better.

I hope this answers some of your questions. Good luck.
